Why Jirigi
Food safety knowledge rarely reaches the people who need it most. Jirigi puts it into short lessons that field workers, farmers and market handlers can read on a phone and revisit whenever they need to.
A jirigi is the kind of container people already trust to carry something valuable safely from one place to another. That is the job this course does with knowledge.
The four modules
Aflatoxin
The invisible mould poison in maize and groundnut, and how to keep it out of the harvest.
Pesticides
Using the right amount at the right time, and respecting the waiting period before harvest.
Fish and vegetable farming
Where the safety risks hide in shared water and how to keep both sides of the system clean.
Clean produce
How tomatoes and leafy greens pick up bacteria between farm and fork, and the habits that stop it.

Results so far
318 learners have registered since launch and more than half of them complete the course within two weeks of starting. Once downloaded, Jirigi needs no signal at all.
