Every programme we run has defined dates and beneficiaries, and ends with a reported result. These are the programmes NG44 Hub has delivered since it was established.

Innovation support

NG44 Hub Hackathon Series

Themed hackathons where young Nigerians build AI solutions to real problems. Each edition is planned around challenges brought by practitioners and ends with judging and a prize for the strongest working prototype.

Edition 1: AI for Local NGOs and the SDGs

Beneficiaries26 participants: 5 teams and 8 individuals. 46% female, 54% male. Average age 22.
Challenge partnersFour Lagos-based NGOs working on health and education as well as clean water and livelihoods
NG44 Hub roleOrganiser and host. Designed the challenge brief with partner NGOs and provided the mentors and judges.
Outcome13 prototypes submitted. Winner: EpiSitRep AI, now live online.

Edition 2: AI in Healthcare for Africa

Dates18 to 20 September 2026 (three days)
LocationBenin City
Beneficiaries22 participants: 12 individuals and 3 teams. 60% female, 40% male. Average age 19.
NG44 Hub roleOrganiser and host. Set the healthcare challenge themes, mentored participants throughout, judged entries and awarded certificates.
Outcome15 prototypes submitted. Winner: Daghe, built by a team of three teenagers.

Food safety

Open Food Safety Courses

A programme of free online courses that teach food safety in plain language to the people who grow and handle Africa's food. Courses work on a phone and keep learner progress on the device.

CoursesJirigi, launched 16 November 2025. AflaLearn, launched 3 March 2026.
BeneficiariesFarmers, traders, extension officers, cooperative members and market handlers. 318 learners on Jirigi and 51 on AflaLearn.
NG44 Hub roleDesigned and built both courses from published food safety research, and hosts them free of charge.
OutcomeOver half of Jirigi learners complete the course within two weeks of starting. Both courses remain open for enrolment.

Community health

Asibi Field Pilot

A field test of our offline AI triage app with community health workers in Nigeria. The pilot checks how well Asibi supports real triage decisions in low-connectivity settings and gathers feedback to improve it.

Post-Hackathon Incubation

Winning hackathon teams are offered continued support after the event so that a prototype built in days can grow into a product people rely on.

    NG44 Consulting opens NG44 Technology and Innovation Hub as an autonomous department.

  2. Jirigi launched

    Our first open food safety course goes live for farmers and traders.

  3. AflaLearn launched

    A free course dedicated to aflatoxin prevention joins the programme.

  4. First hackathon, Lagos

    26 participants build AI tools for local NGOs. EpiSitRep AI wins.

  5. Asibi field pilot begins

    11 community health workers start using Asibi in the field.

  6. Second hackathon, Benin City

    22 participants build AI tools for healthcare. Daghe wins.
