Aflatoxin is a natural poison made by moulds that grow on maize and groundnut when conditions are warm and damp. It has no smell or taste and often no visible sign, yet it harms health and closes markets to contaminated grain.
For a smallholder farmer, one contaminated batch can wipe out a season's profit. Prevention is far cheaper than loss, but only if people know what works.
